My first bog post, I’m so excited! Thank you for reading and I hope this blog inspires you to get creative in your home or even better, to hire a designer to assist in your creative designing.

Whether you have owned your home for many years or it’s a new home, you wouldn’t hire an electrician to fix a plumbing issue, right? So, why try this alone? Get help to select window treatments, design elements, furniture, wallpaper, custom bedding and more.

Why Hire a Designer?

Do you find it challenging, stressful or overwhelming when you start thinking about updating your current home? Or the interiors for a new home? Have you turned on the HGTV channel to watch the latest DIY project or home improvement project and get so excited to do something in your home too, only to find you don’t know where to start? Even though they make it look so easy, in reality many hours of planning and coordinating go into a design project from start to finish.

Design is a process

First identify what it is you want to change or update. Think about colors and styles you like. Most people know what they don’t like more than what they do like or they like too many styles and find it hard to select what to incorporate into the design. Window treatments, paint colors, accessorizing, art, silk plants, furniture, throw pillow and more!  Choosing the ones to all go together, is a cake walk for a designer! Coordinating these things is in my wheelhouse and I love it!

Your Lifestyle

I believe the same as my mom did. She was an interior Designer for over 40 years. She taught me so much and I think the most important lesson was that a good designer will listen to her client and create a look that reflects the lifestyle of the client. So, if you do hire a designer make sure she/he will create a design for you.

Let’s talk about saving money and time

Working with a designer will most likely save you money. Designers work with different trades in the industry and typically offer a reduced price to the designer to hopefully pass on the discount to you the client. Especially with the climate of our economy today, everyone wants to save!

Then there is the schlepping of samples for fabrics, wallpaper, tile, blinds, shades and many options for other design elements. Again, easy for the designer, not so much for you the client. Save yourself the time which is money and let the designer bring these choices to your home so you can see them in your home.
